FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
THE FARM

Q. IS THE FLOWER FARM OPEN TO THE PUBLIC?

A. The farm is the Lindell family home, where we all live & work & thus is closed to the public [with the exception of the roadside Farm Stand]. All pre-order pick ups at the farm house cooler & floral consultations are by appointment.

Q. WHEN DO YOU STOCK THE ROADSIDE FARM STAND WITH ‘GRAB & GO’ BOUQUETS?

A. During the growing season, approximately late April – Mid October, we only open the roadside Farm Stand, “by chance”. After many years in business, we determined implementing a pre-ordering system via our ONLINE SHOP is an efficient business model – with a highly perishable product it makes sense ensuring customers get our absolute best!  When we do plan on stocking the roadside Farm Stand with grab & go bouquets,  we post the night before on both INSTAGRAM & FACEBOOK – so it’s a great reason to follow us!

Q. CAN CUSTOMERS PICK THEIR OWN FLOWERS?

A. No, we’re not offering a u-pick option this year.

Q. HOW BIG IS YOUR FARM?

A. Lindell Flower Farm sits on 7 acres, consisting of a main house & cottage – both family occupied; we are actively farming approximately two acres.

Q. DO YOU SELL POTTED PLANTS / HANGING BASKETS, IN ADDITION TO CUT FLOWERS?

A. No, we sell only cut flowers & foliage.

Q. DO YOU OFFER GIFT CERTIFICATES?

A. Yes! We have gift certificates available in increments of $25 in our ONLINE SHOP.

Q. HOW FAR ARE YOU FROM HARTFORD OR BRADLEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT?

A. We’re about 40 minutes / 20 miles from Hartford & about 40 minutes / 25 miles from Bradley.

Q. DO YOU TAKE CREDIT CARDS?

A. Yes, we accept all major credit cards as well as Venmo [ @Lindell-FlowerFarm ] & Paypal [ Pay@LindellFlowerFarm.com ]

WEDDINGS & EVENTS

Q. HOW DO I INITIATE THE WEDDING INQUIRY PROCESS?

A. If you’re interested in having us design flowers for your wedding, PLEASE COMPLETE THIS FORM & we’ll get back to you with next steps.

Q. DO YOU OFFER FULL SERVICE WEDDINGS?

A. Our offerings have been refined & we’re exclusively accepting small elopements / micro-weddings, where the Bridal Bouquet is a true show piece. Though we are not a full service wedding floral design company, we have many trusted contacts throughout the industry who are! These talented designers use our flowers & we’re always happy to make vendor recommendations.

Q. DO YOU OFFER WEDDING FLOWERS ALL YEAR?

A. No, we’re not able to. The climate in Connecticut allows us to grow fresh cut flowers for about 7 months & thus our wedding season runs from June 1 through October 15.

Q. DO YOU HAVE A MINIMUM PURCHASE REQUIREMENT?

A. We don’t enforce a minimum purchase & we pride ourselves with catering to folks with all budgets.

Q. DO YOU DESIGN STRICTLY WITH YOUR OWN GROWN & FORAGED MATERIALS?

A. We sure do! That’s what makes us special … everything you purchase from Lindell Flower Farm is an honest, true representation of our farm, our family & the climate here, Litchfield County’s Northwest Hills in New Hartford Connecticut.

Q. CAN WE SELECT THE FLOWERS USED IN OUR BRIDAL SUITE DESIGNS?

A. Yes & no. Because we’re not a traditional florist & rely solely on our own crops & Mother Nature, we avoid promising specific flowers be included. With that said, you can absolutely request certain flowers or colors be excluded.

Q. DO YOU OFFER YOUR FARM AS A WEDDING VENUE?

A. Although our property & forest is beautiful, we simply don’t have the infrastructure at this time.

BOTANICALS BY THE BUCKET

Q. HOW CAN I RESERVE BUCKETS OF FLOWERS FOR MY EVENT?

A. Our buckets are available for pre-order purchasing up to a year in advance exclusively via our ONLINE SHOP

Q. HOW MANY FLOWERS ARE IN YOUR BUCKETS?

A. Our 2.5 GALLON buckets are filled with approximately 70 STEMS of mixed flowers & greenery / foliage.

Q. CAN I SELECT THE COLORS IN MY BUCKETS?

A. Yes! We offer both a farmer’s choice & a custom color option.

Q. CAN I SELECT THE FLOWER VARIETIES IN MY BUCKETS?

A. Our buckets contain whichever flowers are most abundant & most beautiful at each point in the season for a truly local & seasonal experience. Because of crop variability, we’re not able to promise specific flower varieties, but we can certainly provide a list of potential flowers for your date.

Q. DO YOU OFFER GREENERY / FOLIAGE-ONLY BUCKETS?

A. We offer only greenery / foliage as an accent to our floral buckets.

Q. IS THE GREENERY / FOLIAGE IN THE BUCKETS SUITABLE FOR GARLANDS WITHOUT A WATER SOURCE?

A. The greenery we grow isn’t suitable for that application & needs water!

Q. WHICH MONTHS CAN WE OBTAIN BOTANICALS BY THE BUCKET?

A. Generally, early-June through mid-October, dependent upon Mother Nature, of course.

Q. CAN YOU HELP ME DETERMINE HOW MANY BUCKETS OF FLOWERS I NEED FOR MY EVENT?

A. We get this question a lot, but design consultation services aren’t within the scope of our offerings. The number of buckets you’ll need to purchase depends solely on your vision & the design style & vessels you’ll be using. For example, some clients purchase very few buckets & design a single stem or two in bud bases, while other clients purchase many buckets & design elaborate & lush arrangements. We recommend purchasing a sample bucket prior to your event to ensure you’ll have enough product to cover your floral recipes.

Q. HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I PICK UP MY BOTANICALS BY THE BUCKET TO ENSURE I HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO DIY?

A. We recommend pick-up the day prior to your event.

Q. HOW SHOULD I PREPARE TO PICK UP MY FLOWERS?

A. Your flowers will be waiting for you in buckets you’ll take home; In order to safely transport your flowers, you should bring plenty of padding to place around the buckets, towels or blankets work great. You’ll need enough padding to ensure the buckets don’t move in transport. They can be secured on the seats with seatbelts or the floor, but never ever in the trunk!! Keep the windows closed & the Air Conditioning on high! Plan your flower pick up as your last stop, so you’ll drive the blooms directly to their safe destination as smoothly as possible.

Q. WHERE SHOULD I STORE THE FLOWER-FILLED BUCKETS & RESULTING DIY DESIGNED ARRANGEMENTS?

A. Flowers need to be kept cool & out of direct sunlight. A dark air-conditioned room or a cool basement is ideal. Oh & never put them in a standard home refrigerator! Florist coolers have specially calibrated cooling / humidity standards completely different from the fridge in your kitchen – your home refrigerator could permanently damage your flowers overnight!

Q. IS IT TRUE THAT HAVING CERTAIN FRUITS NEARBY COULD DAMAGE MY FLOWERS?

A. Yes, it’s true! Certain fruits while ripening produce Ethylene Gas; This Gas is odorless & extremely damaging to certain flower varieties – it basically hastens ripening & causes quick spoilage. It’s best to keep your flowers away from food & out of the kitchen to avoid issues!
