ITALIAN POPPIES | PICK UP AT FARM STORE
AVAILABLE MAY - JUNE
Purchase our POPPIES ahead of time for pick up at our roadside farm store!
We exclusively grow the larger exquisite Colibri Poppies, bred in Italy for the cut flower trade.
Reminiscent of crepe silk georgette, circa 1920, these blooms are surreal, with their delicate crinkled texture. Sitting atop wiry stems, a bunch of Colibri Poppies in a well-loved vase will dance & move for days.
We’re growing a mix of colors, mostly Pinks, Peaches, Butter Yellow, Ivory with some Orange & brighter Yellow mixed in.
Each bunch will consist of mixed colors, approximately 15 stems, wrapped in kraft paper; A Mason Jar with water is included for transport, as Poppies need to be in water consistently.
Stem length is approximately 12 - 16+ inches - much longer than our Mason Jar stem length for display in your own special vase
Your stems will be a mix of open, semi-open & partially enclosed in their pods - this is to provide you the joy of watching their transformation in your homes!
IMPORTANT POPPY CARE: Poppies are unique in that they excrete sap! If he sap is allowed to seal the end of the stem, the flower will not be able to drink water! Thus, whenever re-cutting a Poppy stem, always sear the end with a flame before placing in water: burn the last inch of the cut stem all around for about 7-10 seconds, this cauterizes the stem & allows it to drink!
Once exposed to the warmer air in your home their pods will shed & the blooms will widen in all their glory
Please select a preferred pick up date at least 24 hours / 1 day from right now; This allows us time to harvest your flowers & prepare your order - Thank-you!
